Making Vinegar from our Apples

Chopped apples then added 1/2 gallon of water and sugar ratio following these instructions:

Sugar to water ratio: 1 tablespoon of sugar per one cup of water, or scaled up to 1 cup of sugar per one gallon of water.

Put in a 1 gallon growler on 9/23 and topped with a fermentation lock (maybe shouldn’t have done that). Stirred every few days.

Waited two weeks and then strained into jars on 10/7/24. It smelled good but like hard apple cider. Now we wait 2 – 3 months

This is the vinegar about one month after straining.

Ended up being ready in early March! So took about 5 months.
