Country Gravy

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 4 cups warm whole milk (divided)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper

  1. Melt butter in a skillet over medium and when melted, add flour and whisk constantly for about 2 minutes
  2. Gradually add 3 cups of the milk, continuing to whisk
  3. Add salt and pepper and bring to a simmer but continue whisking
  4. Add the remaining 1 cup milk if it needs to thin a bit to reach desired consistency
  5. Serve!
