Meatloaf

Ingredients

For the Loaf:

  • 1 lb ground beef, bison, or turkey
  • 1/2 medium onion, diced
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp garlic
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
Sauce:
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tsp vinegar
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp garlic power
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt and pepper

In a pinch, skip making the sauce and just use your favorite barbecue or teriyaki sauce. Optionally top with American cheese during the last 5 minutes of cooking to really give it that hearty feel.

  1. Preheat the oven to 175° and line a loaf pan with parchment paper
  2. Combine all the loaf ingredients in a large bowl or in a food processor and mix on a low setting
  3. Transfer the mixture into the loaf pan and bake for 40 minutes
  4. Mix your sauce ingredients and then spread over the loaf at the 40 minute mark, then bak an additional 15 – 20 minutes

Slice and serve!
